Convert American Express statements to Excel
Amex descriptions span two or three lines with reference numbers and category text, which generic tools split into phantom rows. Multi-card accounts repeat the same section headers per card member, so cardholder attribution is lost and sections are merged out of order.

About American Express statement PDFs
- American Express statements are downloaded as PDF from americanexpress.com under Statements & Activity, one per billing period per card account.
- They are credit card statements: sections for Payments and Credits and New Charges list Date, Description and Amount, with charges broken down by card member on multi-card accounts.
- There is no running balance; the Account Summary shows Previous Balance, Payments/Credits, New Charges, Fees, Interest and New Balance.
- Dates use MM/DD/YY, and the description often carries the merchant, city, state and a reference line below it.
- Amex also offers activity downloads in CSV, Excel, QFX, QBO and OFX for custom date ranges, in addition to the PDF statement.
How it works
- Upload. Drop a statement PDF or a photo. We count the pages and show the price.
- Preview free. The first page is converted immediately so you can judge the quality before paying.
- Pay per file. $0.10 per page, minimum $2. PayPal or card. No subscription, no account.
- Download. Every row balance-checked. Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (QBO), Xero, OFX. Edit anything first.
Frequently asked
Does the export keep which card member made each charge?
Yes. Each charge is extracted as a row, and when the card member name is printed on the statement it is kept in the description so you can filter by it in Excel.
How is an Amex statement verified without a running balance?
Kashf totals each page and checks that previous balance, payments, credits, charges, fees and interest add up to the printed New Balance, so nothing is dropped or doubled.
Which export should I use for QuickBooks?
QBO imports directly as a credit card account feed. CSV works too if you prefer manual mapping, and OFX suits other accounting tools.
