Convert NAB statements to Excel
NAB's Particulars column is narrow, so descriptions wrap onto two or three lines that generic converters read as separate rows. Mixed DR markers and minus signs for overdrawn balances also produce balance columns that cannot be summed.

About NAB statement PDFs
- NAB statements are downloaded as PDF from NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app under Statements, with several years of history.
- Statements show Date, Particulars, Debits, Credits and Balance columns, with a running balance on each line and opening and closing balances for the period.
- Dates are day-first (DD Mon YY), and particulars include labels such as EFTPOS PURCHASE, INTERNET TRANSFER, BPAY and FEE, often with a merchant or reference line below.
- Overdrawn balances may be shown with a DR marker or a minus sign depending on the account type.
- NAB Internet Banking also exports recent transactions as CSV, OFX and QIF.

Frequently asked
Are wrapped particulars joined back into one row?
Yes. Continuation lines are merged into the transaction description, so each exported row is one real transaction.
Is the running balance checked?
Yes. Each page is checked from opening to closing balance, with DR and minus signs normalised to negative numbers.
Which export should I use for Xero?
OFX imports directly into Xero bank feeds; CSV also works with Xero's import mapping. QBO is available for QuickBooks.
