Convert NatWest statements to Excel
NatWest descriptions mix the code, the payee and a long reference in one cell, and generic converters cannot tell where the payee ends. Overdrawn balances are marked with a D or a minus depending on the statement generation, which many tools read as a positive number.

About NatWest statement PDFs
- NatWest statements are downloaded as PDF from Online Banking or the app under Statements, usually with a multi-year archive.
- Current account statements show Date, Description, Paid in, Withdrawn and Balance columns, with a running balance on each line.
- Descriptions begin with a transaction code such as POS (card purchase), D/D (direct debit), BAC (BACS credit), OTR (online transfer), S/O (standing order), CHG (charge) or ATM.
- Dates are printed in UK format (DD Mon YYYY), and statements start with a brought-forward balance line.
- Online Banking exports recent transactions as CSV, OFX or QIF; older periods are PDF only.

Frequently asked
Are overdrawn balances handled correctly?
Yes. Kashf reads the D marker or the minus sign and exports a proper negative balance, and the running-balance check confirms it on every page.
Does it work with Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank statements?
Yes. They share the NatWest Group layout, and the layout is detected from the document rather than the brand.
Can I upload a scanned paper statement?
Yes. Scans and photos are read with OCR and run through the same balance check so OCR errors are caught instead of exported.
